Paraphrasing
Mark 's own words: My paintings combine several
of the elements present in my work. The threads
of mythology, fantasy, psychedelia, Visionary
Landscape, and Surrealism all are present to
varying degrees. The mono-tonal prints are fine
art prints, in the medium of intaglio etching.
In addition to creating the designs on the metal
plates, I print them myself on rag paper, and
each individual print is hand-wiped and pulled
in my studio. This process gives every impression
unique effects of tonality, unlike commercially
produced reproductions. The Enchanted Forest
etchings are approximately 9 x 12", and
are printed on heavy rag paper.
I began the "Enchanted Forest" series
in 1981 and more will be forthcoming. As the
saying goes: It's not the destination that is
important, it's the journey.
