In
the artist's own words: "As a teenager
and a preteen, I was always the outsider, the
misfit. No one else I knew spent afternoons
sitting in the trees talking to the little wild
animals, or looking for faeries. I learned to
hide that part of myself from most people, but
that was when I started drawing, and later painting.
I think it was a way for me to express that
part of my life without fear of rejection."
